Within the grounds of Priory Park, along with the nature trails and woodland walks, lodge owners can use our tennis courts and nine hole golf course. The Merry Monk bar and restaurant serves as a relaxed and comfortable meeting place where you can relax and enjoy a drink and a bite to eat in pleasant surroundings. Along with our direct river frontage onto the river Orwell foreshore, the neighbouring 150 acre country park abounding with pines, sycamores, chestnuts and ancient oaks, offers enchanting, tranquil walks throughout the year.
It is hard to believe Priory Park is just four miles from Ipswich, Suffolk's county town providing high street shops, theatre, cinema, restaurants, bistros and bars. A short drive further takes you to the market town of Woodbridge and then on to Framlingham, Orford, Thorpeness, Southwold and Aldeburgh where boutique shops in quaint old market towns provide a different pace to those in Ipswich.
Taking a breath of fresh air, there are miles of shingle beaches to walk, the bird sanctuary at Minsmere, Dunwich cliffs and much more. You can explore castles at Orford and Framlingham along with the ancient burial grounds at Sutton Hoo.
For the yachting enthusiasts, there are numerous marinas up and down river on the Orwell, which along with the rivers Stour, Deben, Alde and Ore offers many days' exploration.
Venturing further, the cities of Norwich and Cambridge are within easy reach, as is Bury St Edmunds and the ancient Roman town of Colchester. Shop-a-holics are therefore spoilt for choice!
Local communications are good, access to the A12 and A14 roads within one mile and frequent rail services link Ipswich with Colchester, Chelmsford and London in one direction and Diss and Norwich in the other.
